Before the use of nylon, socks were commonly made from cotton and wool. Wool is a material that comes from sheep and other certain animals that is widely used in the production of clothes and other textiles. Wool socks are worn mostly for their ability to keep feet dry. Wool may also be treated to be antibacterial to prevent odor. Smartwool socks are a type of sock that provide a comfortable fit around the heel, and arch that make the sock stay where it should. Smartwool adds an extra layer of wool to pressure points on the sole of your foot to absorb shock as you walk. It also helps maintain a comfortable temperature and will keep your foot dry. The wool lets sweat go through the sock helping to ensure that odor does not occur during sports or other intense activities.
