How A Micro SD Kicks Over The Rest Of The Competition

By Clarence Miller

No one would have imagined that a tiny chip such as the micro sd 16gb can store data by the thousands.

There is an increasing demand for flash memory cards that are removable as the demand for more memory increases in devices that are portable. The reason for this growing demand is that the memory cards are quiet with no movable parts. As solid storage cards, they are capable of storing data very safely.

Before the introduction of the 16gb micro sd, the type of memory card used was the Secure Digital (SD). SD is a non-volatile memory card format developed by brands like SanDisk, Matsushita and Toshiba for use in portable devices like cell phones, digital cameras, MP3 players, laptops and game consoles. The physical profile of the SD is 24322.1mm. SD cards are based on the older MultiMediaCard (MMC) format.

As the gadgets come in smaller pieces, memory cards also need to come in the same but with more power. First, there was the big SD card; next came miniSD at 20mm x 21.5mm x 1.4mm; we now have the microSD at 15mm 11mm 1mm, making it the tiniest memory card in the marketplace. The original format of the microSD was designed by SanDisk but SD Card Association adopted it as their standard in the year 2005 and churned out 32MB, 64MB and 128 MB capacities. They were also innovative in offering various configurations for its card and adapters to be suited for various gadgets and brands. Many other manufacturers jumped onto the bandwagon on witnessing the success of the microSD; hence bringing down the prices of these flash memory cards. On the other hand, users want more memory capacity which leads to SanDisk's 16gb micro sd in 2008 at $120.

The sd micro 16gb memory card is the better choice if compared to pricing, convenience and practicality. One 16gb memory card provides more memory than three to four pieces of low-capacity cards. One big memory is better to have in storing all your important data than in different pieces.

The manufacturers assure that the 16gb sd micro provides high transfer performance, so you won't experience any hiccups while transferring data to and from your PC. They run applications and allow users to play music, videos, games, and more. With the 16gb micro sd memory card, you can maximize your gadget's features without worrying about running out of space.
