Designing Logos For An Effective Brand Positioning

By Mavic Vega

A business organization, regardless of how effective its product or service is, is sure to drift in the competition especially if its strategy for brand awareness is ineffective. Brand awareness has been the ultimate mantra of business organizations that are determined to stand out in the New Economy.

When brand awareness is brought up corporate identity, design and logos also come into mind. This is because designs are essential in in raising awareness about a particular product or service. Designs are indeed effective business tools, particularly when suitably employed.

So what comprises an effective design? An effective design, more than anything else, clearly expresses the intention or the function that the product or the brand is intended to accomplish. Once the message is clear, target customers easily find association with the brand.

Creating And Building Corporate Identity

But of course building connection with customers is not sufficient. The brand needs to be credible. It should truly uphold what it promises to accomplish. Otherwise, the brand will only be recognizable but not worth trusting.

Another characteristic of an effective design is its ability to become distinct and thus stand out in an array of product brands. This attribute is not really autonomous. It requires the integration of the first two qualities of an effective design to make a unique, striking, and symbolic design.

The third ingredient to make an outstanding design - aside from incorporating the first two qualities of an effective design - is to humanize it. Humanizing a brand design means giving it a substantial character so it can take pride in being one of a kind.

An effective brand design should also manifest flexibility. Merging and business expansions are so common nowadays that the design should represent every consumer group that it intends to cater to.

Thus, keeping a contemporary brand identity is crucial in staying competitive. This implies that continuing to evolve is the key to staying fresh and exciting in the competitive marketplace.
