Jeans: The Fashion Craze That Has Caught On Like Wildfire

By Leona Lock

The rough kind of wear that is most popular in the west has spread its tentacles to the rest of the world. The clothing is the jeans and its now plodding on, all the corners of the world conquered. It is the one thing that has made man to feel the freedom of expression. Because there is no fashion statement as such to make, the jeans remains the one "non-expression" statement that is universally accepted.

These days the jeans are available in varieties that are a connoisseur's delight. They have undergone changes in the color and the faded jeans are fast being replaced by the ripped variety. These were unheard of a decade ago. And when the jeans were first introduced they were only a single shade of blue.

When the next stage of evolution set in, the pockets were studded with gold. This was a natural transition and the people hurriedly joined this kind of expression. And the gold started to occupy all the portions of the jeans.

If there was a time when the metal buckle was a statement, the metal clips and fastenings were keeping the clothing department in frenzy. The jeans were not too far behind. They had established themselves as the one thing that man could not live without, other than food.

All the varieties of jeans were torn to the basic denims or jean that evolved into something that took the shape of the fancies of the wearer. If the faded jeans were more popular then the time for the stringy denims was around the corner.

In particular the black jeans were expressing themselves in a way that would have put the most hardened masochist to shame. They were now in the realms of the ripped jeans and the only thing that would help the jeans keep its face was a brutal tearing or ripped facade that reflected intense agony.

Once upon a time, the holes were to be made by hand. Now one may get custom ripped jeans or make them with a can ripper or a seam ripper. It will set your jeans in the class that is fast advancing.

If the rain clouds belong to the jeans then the rainbow belongs to the denim shorts. They may be simply yesterday's pants that one has cut off or it may have been custom designed. Whatever its origin, the look that is created is always the greatest if the cut is ragged rather than tailored.
