Inside information on Diamante Jewellery

By Abigail Collins

Diamante jewellery looks very much like diamonds and hence, we often mistake them for real diamonds. In reality, it is quite different and less expensive as well. It is made from lead glass, which in turn is moulded to suit the requirements of the concerned designer. The diamante jewellery manufactured by Swarovski at Austria is considered to be the best. Designers are also known to paste gold foils to them, which in turn makes them sparkle like real diamonds.

Diamante is also known as wedding day jewellery and they are extensively used for vintage day parties and for bridal makeup. It is attached to your wedding dress by glue or by using the prong based methodology. The prong set method works the best for this wedding day jewellery and you can always combine it with other precious stones to ensure a flawless finish.

The diamante necklace came into existence in the 1950's when the Aurora Borealis methods were first introduced. These necklaces are liked by all age groups. Often considered to be an integral part of the prom jewellery, the diamante necklace is mostly worn at a wedding ceremony or at a party. The diamante jewellery became non-existent in the 1960's as no one cared to wear them. Nonetheless, with the coming of the disco era in the 1970's and the club era in the 1980s, the demand for diamante rose again.

Diamante earrings are quite famous these days. They are known by several names and a few of these include the flatbacks, the pearl cut, the square cur, the cushions and the princess cur. The designs are mainly long and narrow and this is one reason why the diamante earrings are very popular these days. Another reason behind their rising popularity is that they make lasting fashion statements. So if you want to look different in a party, you need to wear diamante earrings and head for the marriage ceremony with confidence.

To prolong the life of your rhinestone, you need to avoid getting it wet. When it gets wet, the foil starts to rust and your stone starts to lose its colour. Always use a soft toothbrush to clean your precious stones. Thereafter, you may use a cloth which is lint free to polish them further. For a deeper cleanse, you may like to spray some cleaning liquid onto your toothbrush, squeeze it dry and then brush the surface carefully. Alternatively, you may hold the stone upside down to ensure that no moisture is allowed to seep in. Dry polish can also be used.

You often mistake diamante jewellery with precious stones. People refer to these as precious gemstones as they have an ability to sparkle. The long and narrow shaped stones under his category are known as Baguette, while the flat back stones are known as the Cabochon.

To ensure that your diamante jewellery remains safe and is with you for a longer duration, you need to avoid wearing it after you have applied perfume and completed your make up. As there are plenty of diamante jewels available in the market, you need to avoid choosing poor pieces and opt for only those which shine and appear sparkling new.

Diamante jewellery should always be purchased from Swarovski, Coco Chanel, Boucher, Christian Dior or Miriam Haskell to name a few. These are reputed brand names that have been in the market for long and can be trusted.
