Summer spending over...time for Christmas!

By Abigail Gibbons

As we are still getting over the eventful summer, of random heat waves, storms and holidays everybody in the toy industry has their eyes on one thing....Yes it is time for the countdown for Christmas. As usual to get an idea of what will be big sellers this Christmas, you don't have to look much further then Hollywood.

We can safely bet that Harry Potter items are going to be a hit, alongside that of Planet of the Apes and Transformers. But what about the other age groups in the market? You know the kids we mean...Too young or "too cool" to be into the likes of Harry, so what do they want? Well let's first look at the younger audience first. I remember as a kid that whatever my parents bought in the house, I was more excited about the box it came in then the contents inside.

Nothing beats a kid's imagination and in this day and age, it is advised to not try and break the bank with the newest technology. There are great games and wooden toys available which will nurture and challenge the minds of the nursery/primary school generation. With the older kids, it might be a tad more expensive. Adults with kids will have certain words which send chills down their spines which include; iPad, iPhone 4 (or even 5), X Box360 and the list goes on. In this current climate words like that are very scary for the commencing gift buying months ahead.

So what do the retailers predict? It is definitely been thought about hard, considering Tesco released their top 10 list back in June! With predictions starting this early, by Christmas 2016 we will know what will be in fashion to buy in Christmas 2017. Doesn't sound like too much fun really, however at least it gives us time to save.
