Ideas For Best Man Gifts

By Veronica Jacobi

After all of the years of dating women and the relationships not working out, you have finally found the one that you want to spend the rest of your life with. It is time to start planning the wedding. Generally, the bride, her family and friends do most of the heavy lifting when planning a wedding. Aside from giving your opinion on the site of the wedding and reception, the groom does have some responsibilities in regard to thanking his groomsmen. Best man gifts are the most important groomsman gift. This is the guy that has seen you through several relationships and the one that should be honored for seeing you through all those difficult times.

Standard gift ideas include; engraved money clips, engraved flasks and engraved cuff links. If you decide to go down this road, and your best man has a sense of humor, think about super-hero cuff links. If your best man is a drinker, get him a pub set or a shot glass that represents his college.

Maybe you do not want to go down the sentimental road, think about a humorous gift. Find a joke book that would make him laugh or buy a book about his favorite comedian. Maybe you all have an inside joke that a particular gift represents, get him that. If you are on a smaller budget, think about making your own book of jokes.

A man that has a sense of humor can be the easiest gift to purchase. A class clown allows you to think out side the box. For this type of best man, consider something that would allow him to have some fun with his friends. If he is internet savvy, buy him a subscription to an online joke website.

There is always the option, for those that have a larger budget, set him up for a weekend at the beach. If he and his significant other have a favorite restaurant, make reservations for them. In choosing this route, keep in mind that you might get asked to babysit. If this is a possibility, make sure the reservations are not during your honeymoon.

While proper etiquette dictates that the appropriate time to give the gift is at the rehearsal dinner, this can be a hectic time for all involved. The groom can let down his hair at the dinner, but everyone will be demanding his attention and he may not have time to give the gift. Another time to give the gift is before the rehearsal. If the venue that you have selected for the ceremony has several couples rehearsing on the same day, at set times, the groom may have time prior to his rehearsal to give the gift at that time. Venues that have multiple weddings lined up for the same day at different times, have a tendency for the rehearsals to run over. Giving the groom ample time to present the gift.

Best man gifts should be well thought out and appropriate for the individual. Keep in mind that this man has seen you through good and bad relationships.
