2011 Fall And Winter Fashion Tips (For Men)

By Mark Walters

Men's fashion is generally slower to change than women's fashion, and trends for this Fall and Winter follow the approach of previous comparable seasons - some trends resurface, while other new ones slowly creep in. This is a clever way of not bombarding men with too many new looks, and allows them to cling onto some trusty wardrobe staples from year to year.

Gray has become a strong player in the color palate for this season. This is a color that overlaps so easily between casual and business wear, so its popularity is no surprise. Comfortable casuals, warm knits, or neat suits, are all abundantly available in gray, and they work perfectly with any black or white wardrobe items. Tom Ford issued a list earlier this year of the essential items for men, and the ever-popular white shirt naturally was included. A good quality white shirt will compliment any of this season's gray suits. Make sure it's a neat fit to sit tightly under the slim-fitting, single-breasted suit, and choose a fabric that will compliment the light sheen so popular with suit fabrics of the moment.

Neutral tones are also gaining popularity this season. As with gray, neutrals are versatile and suitable for formal or informal wear. Mix a palate of creams and beiges to create a clean and simple image. It can make a great change of look from the traditional darker winter tones. Introduce one statement piece to inject some color with a bold or bright scarf. This will break up the neutral look and keep you on trend with the one-color scarves that are gracing many designer collections. Jackets in neutral shades are also widely available and make a new and fresh statement from previous dark-colored jackets.

And speaking of jackets, the military look is still prevalent in trends for Fall and Winter 2011, and is mainly evident in jackets. This look has stood the test of time having been around for a few seasons, so hopefully it's something you'll have in the wardrobe already. Accessories in the military style are also on trend, so update any look with a military belt.

Check out the Fall and Winter trends available in stores. Get ready for the cooler weather and be sure to invest wisely in some chunky knits. Nordic style sweaters are very much of the moment, and who could resist a man in a cosy sweater with a bright bold pattern? So what are you men waiting for?
