People, Clothes and Globalization

By Agus Rahman

Not all people have the same view on fashion.. They're not focused on what they wear and what they look like in other peoples eyes. Others pay an enormous amount of time and energy on their looks. Of course, ladies are always more interested in apparel, outfits and model than men. Though, with times changing more and more men are becoming as significantly interested as woman if not even more!

In the past different geographical place, different culture and even different climate have had a lot to do with what people were dressing themselves. Today with globalization on each corner people more and more wear similar and even completely similar dress up. This is not just the condition with garment though too with shoes, jewellery, hair fashion, make up and other model items. Is this phenomena good or bad? With all the peoples and countries putting on identical things all around the globe, life and fashion could become somewhat dull. Young people today are completely ignoring their own fashion and are in reality expressing their appreciation for the patterns and model imposed by TV displays and Hollywood movies. If you're not wearing what they say it is in, it's trend to wear in magazines and on TV,. In actual fact this effect is not just known in fashion and clothing industry, it is influencing all industries and walks of life. Globalization is gradually however persistently annihilating local tradition, knowledge, skill, artisans and values.!

Who is to benefit the most from this process in the style and clothings world? The answer is simple, the biggest piece of cake will go to large fashion related companies. Companies which are already set and with the powerful globally machinery will simply drown all the local fashion based on tradition. This is a bad thing to unfold due to the fact lots of quality local ideas and lots of local creativity will find it hard to come to the surface, and definitely will simply be put in a corner, never to be developed to its full potential.. This is only partially true because globalization in its essence means that big players will have more effective and more widespread control on all parts of their interest. When it arrives to style it means that if large companies say something is contemporary after that that exactly is what it will probably be considered contemporary, if they say something is garbage then that's exactly what people will think related to it., no subject how good they are, if the idea goes against the interest of existing style imposed by large style names.

Globalization is unstoppable and the most visible sign of the power of this process is apparel people are putting on in completely different aspects of the world, nations and cultures. People, attire and fashion are becoming more and more alike, whilst good old diversity and individualism are shamefully being put aside!

It seems like fashion globalization however ,, has not yet revealed its way into Islam societies. It's still hard to imagine for example see through clothes being endorsed in Muslim countries! This in actual fact could be the last viable obstacle to model and clothes globalization in today's world!
