Tips On Finding Places To Elope

By Earnestine Morris

Many couples elope for several different reasons. It is cheaper than a traditional wedding, it is quicker, there is no stress over the invitation list, dress fittings, and all the situations that pop up when planning a wedding. Finding places to elope is no problem. It can be an exotic vacation destination or a local spot that is special to the bride and groom.

Eloping has become so popular that there are special websites and wedding planners who can assist with finding a location. A couple can spend as much or as little as their budget allows. All they really need is someone to perform the ceremony, a marriage license, and each other.

There are some things that need to be researched and verified before eloping. It is important to find out what paper work is needed to obtain a marriage license. Also find out if a blood test is needed and if there will be a waiting period after the license has been issued. If planning on traveling to a different country, find out from the embassy if there are requirements for nonresidents to marry.

Eloping does not mean there will be no family members or friends present. Some couples are now having a dinner party with close friends and family then surprising the guest with a ceremony. Other couples plan their wedding to take place at an exotic destination and invite friends and family with the knowledge that few if any will be able to attend.

If opting to go away for the ceremony, phone family members and close friends when returning home. Let them know before they find out from someone else about the nuptials. It is also perfectly acceptable to send out elopement announcements and hold a reception within the first few weeks home.

Finding places to elope does not need to be stressful. There are venues that offer assistance with lodging, car rentals, and ceremonies. Research the internet for more information on discounts, locations, and requirements for obtaining a marriage license.
