The 'in' skirts this Summer

By James Jacks

Skirts for women are a summer wardrobe staple. Every year, world-famous designers introduce the upcoming season's skirt trends during fashion week. This summer, skirts will be romantic, sophisticated, and feminine.

1. Full skirts.

Fashion from the 1970s is making a comeback this summer. Just as skinny jeans are being replaced by bell bottoms, women's skirts are getting a vintage makeover as well. Full, long skirts reminiscent of the shape worn in the 1970s are a must-have for all women this season. Full skirts are flattering on all body types. They hide any problem areas and accentuate your best features. Wearing a long, flowy skirt is a great way to look feminine and sophisticated this summer. It's a classic look that is subtle but sexy.

2. Ruffle skirts.

Clothing with ruffles was one of the most popular designs seen during fashion week. This summer, the emphasis is on looking feminine. Ruffle skirts are flirty and fun. Don't forget to pick one up for your summer wardrobe.

Ruffle skirts come in all different lengths and designs. If you want to show a bit of leg, try a miniskirt that is entirely covered in ruffles. If you want to stick to a more classic style, get a knee-length skirt with just a few ruffles on the bottom.

3. Ballet skirts.

Dresses modelled after the tutu are in and so are romantic ballerina-inspired skirts. Ballet represents refinement and elegance. This summer, you don't have to be a dancer to look as graceful as a ballerina. Pick up a voluminous lightweight skirt that will make you look like you just came from a dance rehearsal, wear it with smart ladies tops and you are sorted for various occasions.

You don't have to stick with traditional white skirts to wear this trend. Ballet-inspired skirts will be everywhere and in all different colours, shapes, and patterns. What matters is the beautiful, romantic shape. When it comes to everything else, you have the freedom to decide which colour and design reflects your personality the most.

4. Straight skirt.

Don't give up on fashion if you are not a fan of over girly skirts. This season's sleek pencil skirts are perfect for women who prefer classic and formal shapes. Try a narrow knee-length skirt that hugs your hips.

It's a strong, modern look any woman can wear to the office, on a date, or a casual outing. Straight pencil skirts are versatile and can be worn with any type of shirt or shoes. Wear them with a blouse and high heels to work, and with sandals and a short-sleeved shirt on a weekend outing.

5. Slit skirt.

If you want to show off your legs, but don't like miniskirts, try this summer's trendy slit skirts. Skirts introduced by many designers at fashion week had a flirty slit on the side. They are available in a variety of lengths and designs, so you can choose one that fits your personal style the best. Slit skirts are a great way to look sophisticated and sexy at the same time.
