I was remembering the quilts that I had made over the years. I tried to remember as many as I could. I went over all my quilts whether it was patchwork, themed or patterned, I tried to remember how many green ones I had made... And to my astonishment, I was unable to remember making even just one green quilt.
After coming to this discovery, I could find no sound reason for not having one. I then became fixed on begin one. I sat down with my pencil and notebook and noted down a few concepts for my green quilt.
Here's just a few of the ideas I came up with:
Link Theme
I have a nephew who is into his Nintendo. One of the many games I've seen him play is a game titled Zelda : Twilight Princess. The primary character of this game is a little fellow called Link.
He dresses generally in green, with a touch of brown. The graphics on this game were mostly low level, with smooth edges and not a lot of detail. Making a quilt with Link in one of the forest theme levels would be quite simple and would mainly feature a green design.
On top of this, my nephew would be thrilled to bits with a blanket like this.
A Vine Blanket
Taking a rather more nature themed approach, I thought about the idea of using vines to make the pattern of a quilt. You could have them criss-cross or merely grow in random directions across the quilt, to fill out the pattern.
When you have decided how the vines will go, add a few leaves to every one of the vines to add some texture to your green quilt. It really leads to a great free form design.
Now I'm not going to tell you which idea I ended up going with, but I'm sure that I am going to eventually use each one of them, as I adore them all!
