Top 5 Pieces Of Mailroom Equipment

By Steven Lyndhurst Smith

Whether looking to start a mailing and shipping store, or needing to replace current stock there are a wide variety of companies that can help. If starting a new business or adding to an existing one, there are five top pieces of mailroom equipment that should be purchased. Whether buying brand new, or looking for quality pre-owned pieces, the top pieces will make the business more efficient.

One of the top pieces of machinery that is chosen for businesses is an addressing machine. Addressing machines are fairly inexpensive and are much faster and more efficient than a traditional printer. It has the capability to address thousands of envelopes with either the same address or multiple addresses in an extremely reduced time frame. It also assists in bulk mailing by being able to print directly onto labels. The software is always included and quite easy to use, as well.

The next piece of equipment that should be considered is a folding machine. These machines make life so much better when looking to send out bulk fliers. The folder actually takes a single sheet of paper and folds it according to the setting. They are often capable of handling thousands of sheets of paper in a much shorter time.

The next important piece of machinery is a bander. Banders simply take an adhesive strip of paper and wrap it around a bundle. Often found in bundles of money, these paper strips are wonderful when trying to keep similar items together or when something is being shipped to the same zip code. The bander makes mailouts much more efficient.

An inserter is the next item that should be considered. An inserting machine does exactly what it sounds like. It literally takes a piece of paper and inserts it into an empty envelope. These machines are usually paired with folders, since folded paper is what normally goes inside the envelope.

Finally, an envelope sealer is an invaluable piece of machinery. No longer do individuals need to lick hundreds of envelopes, or use the messy water sticks. Instead, this machine seals the envelope as it is shot through to the other side. Envelope sealers are one of the most popular pieces of mailroom equipment used.

Various businesses, from the home, to the internet, to stand alone stores, have some form of mailroom equipment. Rather than remaining inefficient, saving time and money is a huge benefit to updating or purchasing machinery. Taking time to research the options can be worth every penny.
