Reborn Baby Dolls - Unreal, Yet So Lifelike Babies

By Roseanbethel

Perhaps you have read about reborn dolls. They seemed to look like live newborns but arent. Because of the life like features of these reborn dolls they have been mistaken for real newborns.

Last July 2008 - Queensland, Australia, it was reported that a police smashed a car window to salvage what appeared to be like an lifeless baby but later on found out that it was just a reborn baby doll. The police claimed that the doll was "extraordinarily believable. The people whove witnessed the event were also concerned for the baby because they too thought that it was without a doubt a real one.

Unreal, yet so life like! You may perhaps have seen couple of these reborn baby dolls in malls, fashion shops, or in the streets were they are being held by mothers or placed in strollers as if they are real ones. They are as well seated in cars putting seatbelts on them so they can be shielded from any unseemly event. A few young women clothe the dolls and bathe their hair. Indeed, these reborn babies are well treated and are well cared for as if they are real newborns - real babies.

Many of reborn doll owners are doll collectors. While quite a few used these dolls to replace a child they once lost or have already grown up children and miss their kids childhood. And some might have gone through miscarriages and could not pay for adoption. And so they adopt reborn babies instead.

Adopting a reborn doll has stoke up social and psychological concerns. Studies suggest hugging a baby triggers a release of hormones which generate a sense of emotional well-being. With that, some specialists believe this may occur with reborn dolls as well. Thus carrying reborn dolls could produce what is called as a cuddle therapy.

Holding reborn babies may help bereaved parents to console them in their loneliness. Still, some child bereavement experts warn parents against replacing their dead babies with dolls. Reborn babies must only signify a step to the grieving process and that parents should not be entirely attached to their reborn as it could mean their angst is not getting treated at all.
