The Perfect Thoughtful and Thoughtful Proposal Ideas

By Barbara Goodman

The day you propose to your fiancee will likely be the most important day in both your lives. Many women still yearn for their white knight in shining armor to sweep them off their feet into a faraway kingdom to live happily ever after. You can fill role of the white knight by making your marriage proposal a truly memorable event - one that both of you will cherish forever. While there is nothing wrong with the traditional practice of asking her hand in marriage while bent over on one knee in the middle a romantic dinner in a fancy restaurant, there are plenty of other romantic and innovative ways you can pop the big question.

As opposed to taking her out to a fancy restaurant, why not propose over a lovely home cooked dinner you have painstakingly prepared yourself. No woman can resist a man who can cook, and she will appreciate your hard work preparing the meal and planning the whole evening. Proposing over a home cooked meal also allows you to be more playful with where you put the wedding ring. Use your imagination and be creative, you'll be amazed with what you can come up with. Popular places to conceal the ring are in a glass of wine or champagne or hidden in the dessert. Your fiance will be delighted and surprised when she finds a diamond engagement ring in her glass of Champaign or adorning the top of her dessert pastry.

An outdoor enthusiast might appreciate a creative proposal during a camping trip. It's a good idea to plan a quiet trip for just you and your girlfriend at a picturesque location. You could hide the ring in your sleeping bag to use in a surprise proposal. When it's time to go to sleep after a long day of hiking and fishing, you could complain that there must be a rock or something underneath you and then pull out the ring and make your proposal. This creative proposal also contains the element of surprise as a camping trip is not a usual proposal location.

If you're not the outdoors type but instead prefer going to clubs and other entertainment venues, consider arranging for a singer or musician at her favorite place to propose to her on your behalf. A jazz club or a piano bar is great for this sort of thing, provided you carefully arrange and choreograph everything in advance. For a change of pace, try proposing through a magic show. You can arrange for the magician to pick your fiancee to come on stage as a participant in a magic trick and then have him surprise her by pulling out your engagement ring out of a hat instead of the expected rabbit or white doves.

Another creative way to propose is to include all of your family and friends in the event by inviting them all to a surprise party for your girlfriend. To make this proposal work, you would either convince your girlfriend that you want to have a quiet dinner at home or at a restaurant with just the two of you. Once you arrive at the destination all of the guests will reveal themselves and while all eyes are on the two of you, you could take the opportunity to profess your love and propose.
